ECU Student Media
I had an incredible opportunity to report, write, edit, and design page layouts for East Carolina's Student Media Department.
I started out as a new reporter for The East Carolinian as a Sophomore and within a semester was promoted to editor for the entire news beat. After proving myself to be a special asset to the student media team, I was promoted to Editor-in-Chief to help restructure and relaunch our magazine division, starting with our student interest magazine, The Hook.
By the spring semester of my Junior year, I was promoted to General Manager of the entire magazine division and oversaw four magazine publications that were published once a semester. I oversaw a staff of over 50 student reporters, editors, photographers, and management. I was responsible for creating an official ECU Student Media Handbook which included guidelines for my successors to follow. These guidelines included AP Style, publication-specific branding colors and official fonts, uniform layouts, managerial tips & tricks to help the staff and reporters succeed, etc.
Throughout my time as Editor-in-Chief and General Manager, I won two ECU Student Media awards:
Student Media Yvonne Mote Award for Media Organization of the Year
Outstanding Service and Dedication to East Carolina University Student Media Award
The Hook
One of my most noteworthy projects is the student interest magazine I published in 2019. As the editor-in-chief, I had the opportunity to lead an amazing team of nearly 50 writers, designers, photographers, illustrators, and editing staff publishing The Hook.
Anchors Away
Anchors Away is ECU's Graduation Magazine which replaced the Buccaneer yearbook in 2018. I served as General Manager and oversaw this publication from start to finish.

The East Carolinian
I spent two summers and two semesters working for The East Carolinian where I served on staff as a reporter, then was promoted to editor under the news beat. During this time, I wrote and published over 80 print articles.
